News listings

Hover over a node in the content tree and you’ll see the dots. Click those, and you'll see a node type called 'News listings', This can be used to create a listing of news or blog articles. The actual posts sit underneath this node, but you can have as many news listings as you like - e.g. a Blog, Passholder News, Conservation News etc.

You will probably have a News Listing already created as part of your website setup.

Creating / editing posts

Once you have created the News Listing, you can click into it to see the list of Posts.  This will be empty if you just created the listing.

If you want to edit the Content on the News Listing page itself, then use the Content button towards the top-right, otherwise you can click into each News Item to edit them.

News listings are like other node types on the website; they are made up from a series of settings and content blocks. This allows the flexibility to create engaging news & blog pages, using content, images and video. Each blog post also has a ‘News settings’ tab, here you can:

  • Assign a date to the post
  • Pick a category
  • Add an excerpt that is used on the blog listing page
  • Add the Author

Events

Events listings work in a similar way. If you don't already have an Events Listing, then hover over a page to see the dots, then you can create the Events Listing. Again, you can create different events listings for different areas of the business if needed (or use Event Categories if you want them to all appear in the one listing). All individual event pages are created underneath this node. The events that sit underneath this page power the event listing page.

Event Categories

If you wish to use categories for your events, you’ll first need to create the categories. You can do this by clicking on the ‘Event Categories’ node. Categories can be created here, and then assigned to from individual event pages. If you have categories configured, then the user will be able to filter events by category on the listing page.

Event item pages

Once you click into an Event Listing Node, then you'll see a list of Events.

If you want to edit the Content on the Events Listing page itself, then use the Content button towards the top-right, otherwise you can click into each Event to edit them.

Event items are similar to other pages on the website; they are made up from a series of settings and content blocks. This allows the flexibility to create engaging event pages, using content, images and video.

Each Event page also has a ‘Event settings’ tab, here you can:

  • Set when the event is taking place
  • Pick a category
  • Add an excerpt that is used on the event listing page
  • Add key points about the event, these are listed at the top of the event page
  • There's also an option to add a booking link, this will then be displayed in the event panel description at the top of the page.

Repeating Event Instances

When creating an Event page, you’ll need to specify when the event is taking place. This is done with the ‘Instances’ field. Each Event instance can have:

  • Start date (required)
  • End date (optional - used if an event runs over multiple days)
  • Start time (if set, this will appear on the event listing)
  • End time (if set, this will appear on the event listing)

An event can have multiple instances; this is helpful if the same event runs on multiple dates throughout the year. e.g. Weekends throughout August. Rather than creating the event multiple times, you can set multiple instances. The date of the event controls where it appears on the Event listing page. It will also automatically feed through to the opening times calendar, so if the user clicks on a date that has an event on, it will show here too.
