If you're not using scheduled AI tasks yet, they're one of the easiest wins in AI right now.

In this video, we show how to set up a daily competitor intelligence brief using Claude (the same approach works in ChatGPT or Copilot). You tell the AI who your main competitors are, ask it to track their news, offers, pricing and discounts, and it sends your team a short email digest every morning at a time you choose. With an email connector like Gmail it can send the brief automatically, or it can simply generate a document for you each day.

A few tips to get the most from it:

  • Work through the prompt with the AI first, refining the competitor list, sources and email format, before you schedule anything.
  • Ask it to keep a log and only flag changes, so your team sees new information rather than the same state of play every day.
  • Save your finished prompts in a shared folder and add them to your standard operating procedures, ready to brief in again.
  • Always include source links and check anything important. AI is brilliant at hoovering up huge amounts of data, but you still need to verify its conclusions.

Daily might be too much for some teams, so weekly works well too. The same approach is great for distilling industry research from professional bodies like VisitEngland and ALVA into a digest for your team. And once you have a log building up, you can take it further with dashboards, maps and pricing visualisations.
